The Discovery Classes are designed to help you "cover all the bases" in your Christian walk. These sessions are designed to help you reach your full potential in Christ and establish a foundation for Christian living and service. It is our desire that every member of Oakbrook Community Church attend and benefit from all these seminars. For dates and times or to register, call the church office (864-674-1161).

Membership Discovery 101 (Getting to first base)

Discovering Your Membership In Christ And His Church (no prerequisite to attend) "You are members of God's very own family...and you belong in God's household with every other Christian." Ephesians 2:19 (LB)

PURPOSE: To help you become a member of Christ's Body and a functioning and fulfilled member of Oakbrook Community Church.

In 101 you will discover...

  • The purpose and goal of our church
  • The strategy, structure, and beliefs of our fellowship
  • What it means to be a member

Discovery 201 (Getting to second base)

Discover Your Spiritual Maturity in Christ (prerequisite 101) "Take the time and the trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit." II Timothy 4:7 (Ph)

PURPOSE: To help you develop the skills and habits necessary for spiritual growth and maturity in Christ.

In 201 you will discover...

  • How to establish a daily quiet time and how to pray effectively
  • How to become a giving person
  • How to develop close Christian friends
  • How to establish good habits

Discovery 301 (Getting to third base)

Discovering Your Ministry in Christ (prerequisite 101 & 201) "God has given each some special abilities: be sure to use them to help each other..." I Peter 4:10 (LB)

PURPOSE: To help you identify your spiritual gifts, temperament, and talents in order to make your unique contribution in a place of ministry.

In 301 you will discover...

  • How to fulfill God's purpose for you
  • Your unique gifts, temperament, and talents
  • How to match your talents with specific ministries

Discovery 401 (Getting to home base for the score!)

Discovering Your Mission For Christ In The World (prerequisite 101, 201 & 301) "...you will be witnesses for me...to the ends of the earth..." Acts 1:8 (GN)

PURPOSE: To equip you to be on a mission in your world for Christ and to effectively share your faith with others.

In 401 you will discover...

  • How to write and share your personal testimony
  • How to lead another person to Christ
  • Short-term mission project opportunities
  • How to impact your world and our society for Christ
